Close5 – Buy Local

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Bloggin’ Mamas & Close5. I was compensated for my work & as always, all opinions are 100% mine!

Branding logotype

Close5 is a new, free app (available for iPhone and Android) that lets you buy and sell items locally from your neighbors instead of strangers. The reason for the 5 at the end of Close is because they believe that everything we need should be available within 5 miles of us. Better for our communities and environment; I like it!

Everything is done on your phone, making it super convenient and fun. I already found a piece of furniture that I want :)

Once you’ve downloaded the app, it’s a simple sign up process.

You can extend the map from 1 mile to 50 miles, and then you’re on your way to buying and selling items! Snap a few photos of the item you’d like to sell or browse what has already been posted by others. The layout is clean and easy to navigate, with the option to chat within the app without disclosing your address, phone number, or full name.

You are able to comment on items to ask questions or make an offer and the seller can quickly answer you. Everyone’s profile is public, so you know who you are talking to/buying from/selling to from the beginning. No creepy anonymous emails here! On Close5, you can buy or sell anything from electronics to furniture to kids items.

Right now, Close5 is starting out and is mainly in the Bay Area. I know they will grow and expand to the whole US soon though!

Check out Close5 and tell me what goodies you score and how you like the app!

Shopping Trip & Missing Your Kids

My mom and I went up to Gilroy & San Jose for a little getaway & shopping trip last month. It was awesome! Look at us in our new stripes & skinny jeans :) We definitely have the same taste when it comes to style!

It’s weird being away from the children that you are accustomed to being with 24/7. I yearn for quiet when I’m with them. Then when I have it – it feels awkward. But nice! When we ate out at Cheesecake Factory, my mom & I both said how quiet it was compared to when we’ve been there before with both girls!

Marc texted me this pic of Ada putting on her shades after he and Matt had gone surfing :)

And Matt sent me this picture of the girls visiting Nana & Bobba :)

The second night I was gone, Ada called in tears saying that she wanted me. It broke my heart! I welled up in Macy’s and just wanted to be there to hold her. I told her to go sleep with Mommy’s pillow and that I’d come snuggle her when I got home in a couple of hours. That made her happy :)

I got these adorable flats at Nordstrom Rack – the best! I also found a pair of Brooks PureConnects that felt like clouds on my feet…but they were too big :(

I came home to my babies and was a much better mother. I need to remember to schedule away time because I come back refreshed and recharged. It’s about time for another break. Girls’ night anyone?? :)

I’ll leave you with this: Ada as a fairy. My mom got the girls these dress up clothes for Christmas and they’ve been loving them! Ada’s poses crack me up. She loves all things girly!

Two Reasons Why I Love Craigslist

IMG 3040

Isn’t it gorgeous?! I’d been looking for a nice, solid desk with a large workspace and I finally found it. I originally thought that I’d have to buy an old one and paint it, but this baby was in such great shape that I’m leaving it as-is.

2. Our new puppy, Maverick!!! His owner posted about him on Craigslist and we went to go see him that night.

He crawled right into my lap and fell asleep…needless to say – we are smitten!

IMG 3103

His mom is a purebred Chocolate Lab and his dad is an Australian Shepherd.

The night we met him, we had to wait a week to pick him up because he was too young to be separated from his mother. I looked at these pictures every day just waiting for the day he was OURS!

He’s adjusting well and we are loving him. He sleeps through the night, is about 90% potty-trained, and knows the commands for sit, lay, stay, down, and no bites.

Has anyone else had luck with Craigslist?
