Baby’s Journey AT&T Baby Monitor

You guys, today marks 20 days until my due date! Baby June will be here before we know it. It has been so interesting to me how things have changed since I had Lola in 2011. Technology and baby items have come a long way! When it comes to baby monitors, we have had numerous ones over the years. We thought ours was so cool because it would be silent and only turn on when our babies made noise – instead of constant static in the background. We had to keep our girls’ noise machine in their room on “rushing water” to keep that monitor from picking it up. Suffice it to say that none of our previous baby monitors have compared to the Baby’s Journey Smart Sync monitor!AT&T Smart Sync mhealth Baby Monitor (1 of 1)-2The five inch touch screen is crystal clear and the night vision ensures that I can see everything in Junie’s room, even at night. The app is compatible with iPhone & Android phones, so while Matt’s gone he can check in. I love that I can track all of her feedings, diaper changes, and stats on the monitor, too. That way we can have an accurate record of all of her numbers. Matt is big on stats, and in the past has asked me when the baby last ate and how much…I was so tired that I’d just rattle off an estimated time and amount! I knew baby was asleep and happy, so I didn’t pay much mind to tracking feedings. They have been fat, happy babes, so I am hoping that baby sister follows suit :) AT&T Smart Sync mhealth Baby Monitor (1 of 1)-3The monitor also has wifi (make sure you’re using a secure/encrypted connection…those creeper stories freak me out), and you can buy additional cameras for other areas in your home. You can also share photos straight from the monitor to Facebook or Twitter!AT&T Smart Sync mhealth Baby Monitor (1 of 1)-4The monitors are now available online and in-store at Babies “R” Us locations. I am getting so excited to meet this baby girl and grateful to have Baby’s Journey help along the way to watch her grow. What is your favorite baby monitor?

Steve’s Central Coast Detailing

When we got our Tahoe, it needed to be detailed. You know how even when things are “clean” they still need to be cleaned to your standards? I deep clean every time we move into a new house no matter how clean it appears! Anyway, I’d looked online and saw great reviews about Steve’s Central Coast Detailing, so I messaged to see if he’d be interested in doing it for us.Steve's Detailing (1 of 1)Right off the bat, I was impressed with his professionalism. He and his employee showed up right on time and immediately got to work. On a holiday nonetheless! I loved that they came to my house, too. It was so nice to be able to get things done inside my home while I knew my car was being professionally cleaned right in the driveway. Steve's Detailing (1 of 1)-2They worked hard and efficiently side by side. I loved that Steve had a card reader right there on his phone to pay with. Signed with my finger and had the receipt emailed to me. Easy peasy! He also offers gift certificates if you are searching for the perfect gift for someone!Steve's Detailing (1 of 1)-3 I’m big on smells (read: very sensitive to them and creepily good at describing them), so I was pleased that the car smelled brand new when they were done and to see that it had piña colada air fresheners in it! One of my favorite smells. I just saw that he’s got a coconut & vanilla one now, too ;) Steve's Detailing (1 of 1)-4

If you are between San Luis Obispo and Santa Ynez on the Central Coast, I highly recommend Steve’s Central Coast Detailing. Check them out on Facebook & Instagram too, their work speaks for itself!

Keeping Cozy With Starbucks® Hot Cocoa K-Cup® Pods

This post was sponsored by Starbucks as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received compensation and complimentary products to facilitate my review.

What is your go-to Starbucks drink? Mine is a Tall Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. If it’s cold out, this drink will warm me right up! The problem is: the Starbucks near me closes at 8 PM (it’s inside of a grocery store). There have been so many times that my mom and I are heading home from a baby shower or some other party and think, “Ooh! Hot cocoa would be perfect right now!” only to realize it’s past 8 PM and we don’t want to drive downtown to go to the 24-hour Starbucks drive thru. Starbucks KCups-1-4This dilemma will no longer be an issue thanks to Starbucks® Hot Cocoa K-Cup® Pods!! They are beautiful little cups of rich, creamy, chocolately goodness made with real cocoa and fat-free milk that pop right into your Keurig machine. Basically a happiness pod! You can find them wherever you buy groceries.Starbucks KCups-1-6Starbucks sent me the sweetest Cozy Collection! It was a box complete with plush blanket, new mug, shortbread, marshmallows, a $5 Starbucks card, coupon, and two types of Starbucks® Hot Cocoa K-Cup® Pods: Classic Hot Cocoa and Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa. When any type of package comes in the mail, my girls immediately want to help open it and get to playing with what’s inside. The princesses dolls had quite the little picnic inside the Cozy Collection!     Starbucks KCupsHave you ever tried Walker’s Shortbread before? My dad always brings us some from Scotland when he has trips to Edinburgh. It is delicious on its own, but dipped in hot cocoa it takes everything to a whole new level! Try it sometime, it reminds me of the scene in Lady and the Tramp when Darling and Jim Dear give Lady a donut dipped in coffee for breakfast :)Starbucks KCups-1-5The marshmallows from Madyson’s are insanely good as well! They taste homemade (see my homemade marshmallow post here) and melt into the top of your cocoa, leaving the perfect amount of creamy vanilla taste on top. Baby June and I all snuggled up thanks to the Cozy Collection:Starbucks KCups-1-2I am keeping so cozy in my comfy chair, sipping hot cocoa, wrapped in my plush blankie. The look below is me taking a sip before Lola came to steal the mug :) Starbucks KCups-1-3I am so glad to have Starbucks® Hot Cocoa K-Cup® Pods on hand for instant comfort and warmth! Eczema Relief with AVEENO

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for AVEENO® Eczema Therapy. I received product samples as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

This month is National Eczema Awareness Month! My husband struggled with eczema as a child and both of my girls have had nasty flare-ups. I remember taking Ada to the doctor when she was just a year old, asking what this rough skin was on my baby’s usually soft skin? I was given a prescription for a steroid cream and hated the thought of putting something so strong on my baby’s skin.

Aveeno Eczema

Enter AVEENO® Baby Eczema Therapy products! They are recommended by dermatologists and pediatricians to help soothe your baby and child’s skin. They are clinically shown to help soothe and calm the four symptoms of eczema: itch, roughness, dryness, and irritation.

Aveeno Eczema-4

There is no “cure” for eczema, and no telling what sets it off. I lowered Ada’s dairy intake and that did seem to help, but she still gets rough patches on her skin out of the blue. Symptoms of eczema can be managed though, and I notice a difference when I stay on top of moisturizing her skin after bath time.

Aveeno Eczema-3

I love that AVEENO® Baby Eczema Therapy lotions are fragrance-free, steroid-free and hypoallergenic. We have used some lotions in the past that I was always itching (ha) to wash my hands immediately following applying it to my girls because the smell was so strong.

I remember taking soothing oatmeal baths when my siblings and I all had the chicken pox. Thanks to modern medicine, my daughters will never have to deal with that awful sickness! I still have scars from having it in 3rd grade. AVEENO®’s soothing ACTIVE NATURALS® Colloidal Oatmeal packets help sooth the effects of eczema and my girls had fun mixing it in their bath. Immediately after getting out of their oatmeal bath, they could be heard commenting on how soft their skin was :)

Aveeno Eczema-2

If you or any of your loved ones suffer from eczema, I can’t recommend AVEENO®Eczema Therapy enough!

My Road Trip With a KIA Sedona Named Lady Luck!

I was given a vehicle to drive for a week in partnership with DriveShop. As always, all opinions are 100% mine.

I have never been a minivan person. I love SUVs and said I would never drive a minivan! So when DriveShop offered to let me test drive the new KIA Sedona, I was excited but a little skeptical.

Lola and Maverick happily obliged to a photo shoot with Lady Luck. KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.com-6It was perfect because my mom, sister, and I were going on a girls’ trip to Vegas! So we piled into Lady Luck and hit the road. KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.com-5Favorite feature #1: I was so impressed with the cameras on this baby. I love the back up camera! The view on the right of the screen is a bird’s eye view. It came in handy while parking to make sure we were in the lines.IMG_3618KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.com-4Favorite feature #2: The second row’s captain seats were recliners! Lindsay and I were lounging the whole way to Vegas.IMG_3397KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.com

It was so nice and relaxing to travel with my feet up!KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.comMaverick and Lola totally approve of the Sedona. KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.com-2KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.com-3Favorite feature #3: The speed limit icon on the GPS map. Incredibly helpful on a road trip where you are crossing through multiple states and speed limits. No more asking, “Does anyone know what the speed limit is here?”KIA Sedona Review - karainthekitchen.comFavorite feature #4: Trunk space. Here is how it looked with the back row folded down and just my stuff packed. You know I come prepared & Dr. Pepper is a must :)IMG_3367And here is how Lady Luck looked by the time we got to Vegas :) We stopped at the outlets in Barstow and Primm. IMG_3412Celebrating my 31st birthday at Serendipity 3! Love these ladies who I’m lucky enough to call family and best friends. IMG_3484And more celebrating at Mon Ami Gabi :) IMG_3520Came home to lots of kisses from the fam – Maverick included.IMG_3563You guys, my mind has been officially changed. I was really sad to give up the Sedona! I would totally drive this car. A MINIVAN!!! I can’t believe I just wrote that.

It has so many bells and whistles that made my life easier. The remote opened the trunk and doors, and I found myself really missing that backup camera once Lady Luck was gone. If you’re in the market, check out the new KIA Sedona…I think you will be pleasantly surprised! IMG_3622

Fuel Your Better with Vega Sport!

I am a Sweat Pink Ambassador and was sent this product to try and review. As always, all opinions are honest & 100% mine.

When it comes to supplements and refueling, I have pretty much no idea what to use. I usually have a glass of chocolate milk after a good, long run. Big vitamin stores scare me and I leave all of that up to my husband. He likes talking with the employees and is all into the latest and greatest protein or glucosamine drink. So this is me:

Vega Sport’s Fuel Your Better movement is helping people like us to see how you can better fuel and optimize your workouts!

I was extremely excited when Vega Sport offered to send me some recovery accelerator! I love the idea of not being as sore after a workout and recovering quicker.

IMG 6310

The powder is completely plant-based and tropical flavored. You mix it into 1 1/2 cups cold water and drink immediately after your workout.

IMG 6537

I was really surprised by the flavor! Reading plant-based made me think it would taste like, well, plants. That was not the case! It’s like a watered down mango pineapple juice. I liked it all except for the last sip. No matter how much I shook and mixed it, there were always some bits at the bottom that I couldn’t drink.

I’m still trying to master the mirror selfie…I may have been distracted by a cute little two-year-old coming in the door :)

IMG 6719

I have a really sensitive stomach, so I was worried about how the drink would affect me. I found that if I drank it and made sure I got some food in my stomach afterward I was fine. If I only drank the recovery drink and didn’t eat anything for a couple of hours, I’d start to feel woozy.

IMG 6761

The best part about Vega Sport’s Recovery Accelerator was that it actually made me less sore after a workout! Especially one where I sprint to smoke my husband at the end ;)
