Our 9th Anniversary in Carmel, CA

We were hosted for this trip. As always, all opinions are 100% mine!

For our 9th Wedding Anniversary, Matt & I left the girls with my mom and drove up the coast with Maverick.Carmel, CA - karainthekitchen.comWe started our Carmel getaway with a delicious dinner at Will’s Fargo.Carmel California-1-2Built in the 1920s, it used to be a roadhouse named the Carmel Tavern. Since 1959, it’s been a steakhouse, serving up classic fare in a rustic setting. It just underwent a renovation, while staying true to its roots, and I am excited to see how it looks now! Carmel California-1The French Onion Soup & Goat Cheese Ravioli were my favorites. Then they surprised us with a sweet anniversary message on our dessert!  Carmel, CA - karainthekitchen.com That night, we were privileged to stay at Holman Ranch. I can’t tell you how peaceful it is up there! It’s amazing how deeply you sleep when your children are safe and sound with Nonnie ;) Carmel California-1-3

If we are friends or you follow me on social media (or both!), you know that we love our dog, Maverick! Look at how small he was when we first got him: IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comSweet little pup! He was so fluffy and grew up way too fast. Look at him now at 1 1/2 years old: Maverick IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comMaverick, aka: Mavy, Mav, Mavis Beacon, Maverson, or Mary Puppins.

You also know that we love Target, and that you can find us there pretty much on a weekly basis. So it only makes sense that we shop for our four-legged family member there. It’s the best place to go for beauty items, random things you always need like batteries, tape, and cute clothes! I am a huge fan of their Cartwheel app. You load coupons onto your phone and scan it at checkout then listen to the cashier tell you your new, lower price.

We start by heading to the pet department to grab a doggie bed. IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comNot for Mav, he already has one. This one goes in the cart! IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comIt’s the perfect little cushion to keep these crazies comfortable in the cart!IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comCouldn’t resist these cute little sisters’ feet hanging out of the cart. I spy Lola’s little eye! IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comThen it’s off to get some dog food! The girls found where the IAMS food is & right now Target has multiple Cartwheel offers for IAMS: 10% off Iams dog food (includes both wet & dry) Expires 7/25, 10% off Iams cat dry food Expires 7/11, & 5% off Iams wet cat food Expires 7/11IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comMaverick was having some itchy skin issues, and I’ve heard that switching food can help that. Since we switched to IAMS, he’s been much better! IAMS Target - karainthekitchen.comTarget is also where we get Mavy’s  favorite chewies. He loves his rawhides and I love that a giant bag that lasts us months is only $11!  Do you feed your pet IAMS? Where is your one stop shop place for your pets?

Trick or Treat Em for Howl-O-Ween?

I never thought that I would be the type of person that would buy a dog costume. Then I saw the video of SPIDER DOG! I laughed so hard and thought it would be hilarious to dress Maverick up as a spider. I did find a spider costume (not as awesome as the one in the video), and Mav looks so cute in it! Trick or Treat Em (1 of 6)It’s got light-up eyes, fangs, little legs hanging off the sides, and a fluffy rump…too much! His ears don’t really go through the holes like they’re supposed to, but I think it makes him look so cute. Trick or Treat Em (2 of 6)Look at that concentration. He is being so good waiting for a Milkbone treat. Trick or Treat Em (3 of 6)If you go to TrickorTreatEm.com, you can take a quiz to see your pet’s Halloween personality (Maverick is “Quite The Trickster”), make a custom frame for your pet’s picture, and get a coupon for treats! Trick or Treat Em (4 of 6)Our mailman carries dog treats in his pocket and I think that is so smart! He’s come to our door and commented on how good Maverick is to lay by the screen and not bark. I love the idea of having treats ready for the pups that come Trick-or-Treating with their families. I’m sure the puppy parents would appreciate it too!  Trick or Treat Em (5 of 6)Our local FoodsCo has tons of Big Heart treats to choose from. If you can get around the boxes first ;) IMG_8477Mav loves his treats and will do all of his tricks to get one! 11 months old and he can:

Sit

Stay

Lay down

Roll over

Shake

Speak

Balance on his hind legs (Up)

He’s been working hard on his tricks and will definitely get treats from us this Howl-O-Ween! What about your pets?Trick or Treat Em (6 of 6)
